Project: The Hollies, Sustainable Housing Project for the Elderly

Initially a research project, this led to the design of a pilot scheme of new build housing for the elderly. Principles established from research were utilized in producing environmentally responsible construction, offering sustainable timber frame construction, recycled and recyclable materials, with low embodied energy, passive ventilation, low energy fittings, low water use sanitary ware and rainwater recovery. Very high insulation standards coupled with micro condensing boilers met client’s requirements for tackling fuel poverty amongst its tenants whist careful design and material selection provided a low maintenance solution for the social landlord.
