Many late Victorian terraces have little usable external space, save a utilitarian yard to the rear of the property. This commission involved transforming this space into a bright, green, private oasis that could be used as another room during the summer months.
The brief required the provision of external storage, a cooking area and flooring. Reclaimed timber was employed to create a deck at two levels to provide a greater sense of space. A full width store was provided across the rear of the yard, and staging allowed a large number of outdoor plants to be accommodated without taking up valuable floor space.
